Safety

Here are four basic tips for cycling

Stay in control

Listed below are steps you can take to keep control of your bike even in an emergency:

  • Make sure your bike is the right size and fit.
  • A properly fitted bike is more comfortable and easier to control.
  • The rental company can help you choose the right size of bike.
  • Regularly check the technical condition of your bike.

Protect yourself

Properly fitted helmets provide protection against potentially life-threatening head injuries. By law, cyclists under the age of 18 must wear a bicycle helmet when riding on public roads.

Wear the helmet in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Be visible and vigilant

Even if you obey all traffic rules, there is always the risk of a collision.

  • Be prepared to stop in front of vehicles waiting at stop signs, driveways or parking spaces.
  • Be prepared to take evasive action against vehicles that have just passed you and may turn right.
  • Use hand signals before making a turn or changing lanes to warn other road users.

Driving in the safe lane

Drive in the same direction as traffic to be more visible to drivers entering the road or changing lanes in the following situations:

  • Passing a vehicle or another bicycle.
  • Preparing to turn left at an intersection.
  • When the traffic lane is too narrow for bicycles
  • When approaching a right turn.
  • If the road is one-way with two or more lanes.

In the event of loss
